· What were the people of Corinth commanded to do “if any have caused grief”? They were commanded to forgive each other of their sins and love one another.

· What blessings do we see if we forgive? If we truly forgive others of their transgressions, we can be forgiven by our Heavenly Father when we sin.

· What is the danger in failing to forgive? If we don't forgive others, we can not be forgiven and Satan may be able to tempt us further.

Choice 4: 1 Corinthians 9. Being Influential for Good in the Lives of Others

Read 1 Corinthians 9:1, 16, 20–23 and the institute student manual for 1 Corinthians 9:22, “I Am Made All Things to All Men” (p. 291). Briefly explain in writing what position Paul held in the Church and what his corresponding responsibility was. Describe what Paul taught in these verses that can be an effective tool for becoming truly influential in persuading others to do good or to know the truth.

Paul was an apostle and his main responsibility at this time was to preach the word of God to all those who would listen.
What he taught was that you must be willing to truly understand each person you are teaching if you want them to listen to what you have to say. If we can be more like him, we can be much more influential in the lives of others.

Week Three

Choice 3: 1 Thessalonians 3–5; 2 Thessalonians 3:1–6, 11. Counsel for Members

1. Read 1 Thessalonians 3:12–13; 4:1–12; 5:1–22; 2 Thessalonians 3:1–6, 11. Then compile a list of attributes Paul counseled members to improve.

2. Select three attributes from your list and write plans of how you want to improve in each area.

Something I always struggle with is patience. I feel like sometimes I have a very short fuse and no

patience with others. I think the only way to improve this is to practice it. When I am in a situation

where I would normally be impatient, I need to take a step back and think of how I could be more

patient.

One thing that I think is important to remember is to stay away from those people who are constantly

negative or bringing others down. It's hard to be positive and work hard if the people we surround

ourselves with are not also doing these things.

Loving one another is something we have always been taught but it's something that I think gets

forgotten too often. If we don't show love and kindness toward others, what are we doing in our

lives? It's easy to gossip and poke fun at others but that isn't how Christ wants us to live. We should

show everyone kindness, no matter who they are.

Week Two

I'm taking the second half of the New Testament this semester and I'll be posting every week like I did last semester! Here's the first assignment!

Choice 2: Acts 16; 18. Paul’s Second Mission

1. Trace Paul’s second missionary journey from Bible Map 13. List the names of four cities he visited, to whom he later wrote epistles. Read Acts 16:6–10; 18:9–11. Write a paragraph explaining the different ways the Holy Ghost directed Paul and his companions during their journey. Write a second paragraph describing how the Spirit has directed your missionary efforts, and one way you could be more directed by the Spirit in your life.

Philippi, Thessalonica, Corinth, Ephesus

While Paul was journeying around the world he received so much direction from the Lord. When he wasn't supposed to teach in a certain area or city at that time, the Lord would direct him away. When he needed to be in a certain area the Lord would guide him that way. He even received visions of the people he should be teaching.

I didn't serve a mission but I am still a missionary. I know that when I do my best to teach others and share the gospel, the Lord will guide and direct me in my efforts. One way I could be more directed in my efforts is just to pray for opportunities to teach those who are waiting for the gospel in their lives.

2. Review Acts 16:9–33. Make a list of the reasons Paul was able to preach the gospel so effectively. Then in writing answer the following questions:

visions, lots of prayer, the Lord opened the hearts of those who were being taught, they taught in the name of Jesus Christ, the Lord prepared a way for them-like with the earthquake

o In what ways did Paul turn his experiences into missionary opportunities?

He was always prepared to share the gospel and he never feared.

o What can you learn from Paul’s missionary experiences?

It's possible to teach those even with hard hearts if you have the Lord on your side.

o How is the jailer an example of a true convert?

His heart and mind were opened to the word of God.

o How does Mosiah 4:9–10 expand your understanding of Acts 17:30–31?

The Lord will judge everyone at the last day but everyone has an opportunity to repent and believe in God.

o What can you do now to better prepare yourself to share the gospel, whether as a full-time missionary or as a member?

I can be prepared in all situations to share my knowledge of the gospel and trust that the Lord will make up the difference.

Week Eleven

Choice 2: John 14:15–17, 26–27; 15:26–27; 16:7–8, 13–14. The Savior’s Instructions about the Holy Ghost

As you study the following verses, make a list of what the Savior taught about (1) what the Holy Ghost does and (2) what disciples must do to receive the Holy Ghost:

John 14:15–17: The Holy Ghost comforts us and abides with us, he is the Spirit of truth and dwells with us. We must keep the Lord's commandments and pray to the Father to receive the Holy Ghost.
John 14:26–27: The Holy Ghost is the comforter and teacher and calms our hearts. We must be willing to receive the Spirit.
John 15:26–27: The Holy Ghost is the spirit of truth and testifies of Christ. We must bear witness of the Father.
John 16:7–8: The Holy Ghost is with us when Christ can't be and he teaches us to be righteous. We must not sin.
John 16:13–14: The Holy Ghost is our eternal guide of truth and he shows us what is to come.

Review your list of what the Holy Ghost does. Then write responses to the following tasks:

Describe how the Holy Ghost helped the Apostles fulfill their missions after the Savior’s death and resurrection.

The Holy Ghost is a comforter. He was with the apostles when Christ was resurrected because they needed him. I'm sure they were so afraid when Christ died and were scared of what they knew they had to do. I think the Holy Ghost was first a comfort to them in their time of need. Then he testified of the truthfulness of Christ to all those that the apostles were teaching. I think he must have been with all those people to help the work move along even after Christ was no longer on the earth. The Holy Ghost guided the apostles and showed them the way and all the things they were supposed to do.

Write a paragraph about a time when the Holy Ghost blessed you in one of the ways you listed above. Give an example of how the Holy Ghost has inspired you.

The Holy Ghost has been with me so many times and I have felt promptings that I know can only come from the spirit. I think the biggest time when I have felt the Holy Ghost was when I was praying about getting married. I wanted to know if the choice I was making was the right one and if it was ok for me to marry Trav. The spirit was so strong in my life at that time and reassured me that I was making the right choice and that I would never regret it. I am so thankful for the blessings of the spirit and that we can have guidance from the Lord at all times.

Week Ten

Choice 5: John 13:34–35. A New Commandment

1. According to John 13:34–35, how can others know if we are disciples of Jesus Christ?

They will know if we are disciples of Christ because they will see the love and respect we have for others.

2. List some specific ways a disciple of Jesus Christ might respond in the following situations (in accordance with John 13:34–35):

Someone you know is ridiculed or made fun of because of the way he or she dresses.

I think if you have been to high school you have been in this situation. It's best to stand up for others when they are being made fun of. Tell them that you like their clothes or that it doesn't matter what others think.

You see a new person at church.

You should always be friendly and talk to them. You are the one who has been around longer and they are the new one after all. We just need to be kind to others no matter what.

3. Ponder the question, “Do people know that I am a disciple of Jesus Christ by the way I treat them?” Select a family member, coworker, or neighbor and make a short list of things you can do during the coming week to show him or her the kind of love the Savior would show. Then follow through with what you wrote down.

Of course I can try harder in all my relationships but I think the most important one is my husband so I'll write a list of things I can do to show my love for him.

I just saw Court's post about writing something you are thankful for every day in November. I love it and I'm stealing it! :)

Getting a late start since it's already the 11th but oh well!

Today I'm thankful for all the veterans in the world. I love being in school today because everyone is talking about it and I've already seen some people walking around in their fancy blues. I'm so grateful that I live in America! I'm grateful for all the men and women who lay down their lives to help and serve others.

Week Eight

Choice 5: Mark 12:41–44. The Widow’s Mites

Review Mark 12:41–44 and the institute student manual commentary for Mark 12:41–44, “What Was the Significance of the Widow’s Gift?” (pg. 149). Write an explanation of how the widow lived what the Savior taught in Mark 12:28–30.

This woman had only two mites to her name and yet she gave all that she had because she loved the Savior so much. She was living proof that to show your love for the Savior you have to give all that you have.

Even though the widow gave less money than wealthier people gave, according to Mark 12:44, how much of what she had did she give? Write a paragraph describing what this teaches about what constitutes an acceptable offering to the Lord. How does 2 Nephi 25:23 apply to what the widow did?

She gave everything she had. I think that maybe some of the other people were throwing in tons of money because they wanted to seem like they were willing to serve the Lord but I think this woman gave more than they ever could. In 2 Nephi 25:23 we are counseled that we are saved after all we can do. This woman was giving all she could and then the rest was left up to the Lord.

Write two or three sentences describing a way, aside from the donation of money, that you could better follow the widow’s example of sacrifice and obedience.

This woman had perfect obedience. The wealthier people were giving their money, but they had plenty to give and still have money to spare. This woman gave every bit of her money to the Lord. We can better serve the Lord by giving all we have-everything. Not just what we feel like we have time for that day.

Week Seven

Choice 1: Matthew 19:16–30; 20:1–16. Earthly and Heavenly Rewards

Review Matthew 19:16–30 and write responses to the following questions and tasks:

What indications can you find that suggest why the young man decided not to follow the Savior?

The young man did not follow the Savior because he had too many earthly possessions and valued them too highly.

How does Matthew 6:19–24 help explain his choice?

Matthew 6:21"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." The man was too concerned with worldly things. It's ok to have earthly possessions but we can't value them more than we value our salvation.

What blessings did the Savior promise to those who make sacrifices to follow Him?

He promises that those who follow Him will have all blessings and everlasting life.

Based on the Savior’s response to Peter, write a paragraph that could help you put the Lord first in your life (see also the additional details in Mark 10:17–31).

Sometimes its easy to get caught up in things that don't really matter even though they seem important now. But the worldly 'things' we have in this life are nothing compared to what we could have when we choose to follow Christ. If we can give up our worldly treasures and follow Him, we can have the best treasure of all which is eternal life!

Review the parable in Matthew 20:1–16 and consider what rewards come to those who serve in the Lord’s kingdom. Complete the chart below, filling in the blanks with information you find in Matthew 20:

What do we learn from this parable about serving in the Lord’s kingdom?

It doesn't matter how long you serve, every person who does their part will have an equal reward.

What message of comfort can this parable have for converts to the Church?

I think this means that even though converts may have led a different lifestyle before they joined the church, they can still earn the greatest reward in Heaven. It doesn't really matter when you join the work, all that matters is that you do.

What would you tell someone who feels it is unfair for each of the laborers to be paid equally?

It's not really up to us to decide our reward. Heavenly Father knows each one of us individually and will reward us with what we are worthy to receive.

So I missed the first weeks assignments so now I'm making this one up!

Choice 2: Luke 1:5–80. The Birth of John the Baptist

Read Luke 1:14 and write what Zacharias was told about the birth of his son, John the Baptist. Study Luke 1:5–25, 39–45, 56–80, and the Bible Dictionary entry: “John the Baptist” (pgs. 714–15). Write a paragraph summarizing the reasons many people would rejoice over John the Baptist’s birth and mission.

Zacharias was told that the birth of his son would be full of rejoicing and gladness.

I think the reasons people would rejoice over this are that John would have the Holy Ghost and be a strong man. His mission was to prepare people for the Lord and I'm sure this was exciting for everyone. He was going to bring truth and light to the world, why wouldn't people rejoice about that?

Week Six: Being a Disciple of Jesus Christ

Choice 2: Luke 10:38–42; 11:1–13; 12:13–40; 13:23–24; 14:16–33. Being a Disciple of Jesus Christ

Read Luke 10:38–42; 11:1–13; 12:13–40; 13:23–24; 14:16–33 and the institute student manual commentary for Luke 11:5–13, “The Parable of the Friend at Midnight” (p. 115). Make a list of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and what the Savior taught about counting the costs of following Him.

Identify one of the teachings from your list that you would like to apply more fully in your life. Write a paragraph about how you could apply that teaching and what difference you believe it would make in your life.

Read Luke 14:33; Omni 1:26; Mosiah 2:34; Matthew 13:44–46. Explain in writing what is ultimately required to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

A disciple of Christ is:
a faithful servant
willing to learn and be taught
prayerful
forgiving
selfless
obedient
watchful
always looking to heaven
not concerned with the things of the world

The Savior taught that His disciples would be tried and that it wouldn't be easy. He taught that they would need to be faithful and stand up for the truth.

Of all these qualities, I think I probably need to be more forgiving. Sometimes I have a really hard time with this. If someone has hurt me in some way, it's often hard for me to immediately forgive. But I know that to be more Christlike and to be a disciple of Christ I need to forgive others. Christ doesn't hold grudges and neither should I.

The ultimate requirement to be a disciple of Christ is to lose your life in Him. You must give everything you have because He has given us the gift of life.

Week Five

Matthew 17: 14-21 The Savior Healed a Young Man
The three things the Savior said the apostles needed to heal the man were faith, prayer and fasting.

Read the following and list what it teaches about what is needed for miracles to happen.
3 Nephi 18:20 And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you.
You have to ask, and you have to have faith.

Doctrine and Covenants 50:29 And if ye are purified and cleansed from all sin, ye shall ask whatsoever you will in the name of Jesus and it shall be done.
You have to repent and be clean.

Doctrine and Covenants 42:48 And again, it shall come to pass that he that hath faith in me to be healed, and is not appointed unto death, shall be healed.
You have to have faith.

Week Four

So this week we are talking about Peter and walking on water.

Matthew 14:22-33
How did the apostles react when they saw Christ walking across the water toward them?
They were afraid. They thought he was a ghost.

What did Peter's response indicate about him?
He said he would go to Christ. I think this shows his faith and obedience to the Savior.

Why did Peter begin to sink?
He just got a little sidetracked and started paying attention to the wind and he was afraid. Then he realized he was sinking.

What did Peter do when he began to sink?
He looked to the Savior for help. Christ immediately reached out his hand and saved Peter.

How does Doctrine and Covenants 88:67 to the story of Peter?
67 And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things.
Peter successfully walked on the stormy water when he focused totally on Jesus and did not fear. If we follow this example, we can do all things. Christ will never let us fail if we look to him and only him. In this scripture, the glory of God is compared to light. If we only look for light in our lives the stormy winds can never touch us.

New Testament Week Three

This weeks assignment was about John the baptist.

1. Matthew 11: 1-19 and Luke 7:18-35
What did the two disciples of John the Baptist ask Jesus Christ? The Savior told them to go back to John and tell what they had seen and heard. After reading these accounts, explain three things you would have told John if you had been with those two men.

John's disciples basically asked Christ if he was the Savior. They said, "Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?"
They probably told John something along the lines of Christ healing the sick, and the lepers and giving the blind their sight and raising the dead.

2. What does John 3:30 suggest about John the Baptist and his attitude toward the Savior? Briefly describe how we could apply a similar attitude in our own lives.

John had a very difficult job. He was sent to earth to prepare man for the Savior. He was basically the prophet before Christ was born and many people loved him and some even thought he was the Savior. When Christ began his ministry, John had to step aside and hand over all he had done to prepare the people for Jesus. It must have been so hard for John to see all he had built and just give it over to Christ. This is where we see how great he truly was. He never complained and he did everything in his power to make sure people were listening to Christ. That would have been very difficult especially because they were almost like brothers. But John had a humble and loving attitude. We can all look at his example and try to become like he was.

Week Two

So just a little explanation of what I'm doing with these posts...for my online New Testament class we have student choice assignments every week. Like writing a talk or blog post or creating a power point. I decided to do the blog posts since I really need to start blogging again. Anyway...on to Matthew.

This week's assignment was about the twelve apostles. I thought that was pretty fitting since General Conference is this weekend and we are going to hear from most of the latter day apostles.
The scriptures for this assignment are Matthew10:1-4, Mark 3:13-19, Acts 4:33, Doctrine and Covenants 107:23, Matthew 10:5-42 and Luke 5:1-11
Peter-One thing that stands out to me about Peter is that he was great, not because he never wavered, but because he always overcame his weaknesses and served Christ.
James-Was part of the "inner three" who was with Christ on important occasions.
John-He was always faithful and he always stood with Christ and was sometimes called "son of thunder" which speaks of his character.

The word apostle literally means "one sent forth". To be an apostle means to be a witness and to represent someone who is not able to do so themselves.

When Christ sent the apostles out to teach the gospel to the world He first taught them what to expect. He told them they would need to be faithful and strong. They would need to teach as many people as would listen and be aware that they would get some resistance. He warned them not to get prideful and remember that they were apostles of Christ. Matthew 10:40 explains it in simple terms,"He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me."

In Luke 5:1-11 the apostles didn't have faith in Christ yet. They did what He asked but they weren't sure that He was right until after the fish were in their nets. I could take this example and see that Christ is always right. I have no reason to fear when He tells me what I should do. This is applicable for this weekend when we will hear the prophet and the apostles speak. I can be a little more faithful in my responses.

New Testament Week One

Blog Entry Choice 4

Seeing the kingdom of God means that you have been given a glimpse of what your life could be like if you follow Jesus. Entering the kingdom of God can only happen when there is sincere change in your heart and mind.

Jesus taught Nicodemus that man must be baptized to enter the kingdom of God.

Being born of water means to be baptized by emersion.

Baptism is a symbol of rebirth because we are forgiven our sins and we a clean and pure just as we were when we entered the earth.

Baptism can literally be a symbol of death because the baptism itself is a representation of death, (going into the water) and resurrection (coming out of the water clean).

Being born of the spirit means that you have to take the power of the Holy Ghost upon yourself and make a decision to live with the spirit in your life.

The spirit is compared to the wind. It is very relevant because you can’t see it but you can feel it.

God loves the world, meaning His children. He loves every single person on the earth, whether they choose to follow Him or not. He loves us so much in fact, that He sent His only son to the earth to die for all our sins. He sent His son so that we may have a chance at being saved from our imperfect state. The blessings available to us are eternal life and everlasting happiness with the Father.

While browsing the blog of a sister in law of mine I noticed shamefully that I have not blogged in over three months. Right there in that little sidebar was my name followed by a huge flashing light...why do you even have a blog? So maybe there weren't any flashing lights and maybe no one really cared that I have taken a little vacation from putting my thoughts on the internet.

Since I've been gone a few things have happened.

Travis got an internship at the site..also known as the INL. He'll be working there all summer and we are so glad we get to stay here at least until we graduate!

We (but mostly trav) figured out my schedule for the remainder of my college experience and I am super excited to get done with school! Only three semesters left! Yes.

I went snowboarding/skiing every Monday all winter and had a blast! Brought back the good ole ski bum days.

We teach primary now and are totally in love with our kids. They just crack us up every week.

Trav shaved his mustache!! It kills me. I am not changing my blog name though!

Well that pretty much sums up the last three months. Haha. I guess now you know why I wasn't blogging. Super eventful life we have, right?

Remember when I started this thirty day thing and then somewhere around day eight I totally stopped? Well instead of catching up on all the posts I have missed I'm just going to begin where I left off.

So...Day Nine. Something you're proud of in the last few days.

This is a tough one? I think something I'm proud of is getting good grades this semester. This isn't exactly in the last few days but I am definitely proud of it. It's been a lot of work and studying and it's paying off. :)

Learn to play one song on the piano.
It's just as easy to be positive as it is to be negative.
Make dinner more and learn some new recipes.
Get good grades this semester!
Take more pictures.
See Harry Potter.
Not gain back the lbs I lost over the weekend.
Put my phone down more and be present.
Make a scrapbook.
Hang up pictures.
Get a Christmas tree and decorate it.
Send out cute Christmas cards.
Watch Elf at least seventeen more times. :)

I wasn't one of those kids who read comic books. I can tell you the major ones, Superman, Spiderman, Batman. You know, the usual. But that is about as far as my super hero knowledge goes. So honestly I don't have a favorite. But just look at this. It's pretty cute.

This is Grand Targhee.
It's where I learned to ski shortly after I learned to walk.
It's where I spent every Monday in January, February, and March from ages three to eighteen.
It's where I got my first real job.
I have had some of the best days on this mountain.
This is where I met my husband.

It is one of my favorite places in the world.

P.S. This is me and my sister. Sometimes we are pretty weird. :)

I have no follow through. I'm a complete flake and I never finish anything I start. It's terrible and I don't know if it's actually considered a habit but I definitely wish I didn't do it.

And I really really hate folding laundry. Just ask my husband.

This is Annie. She's my cousin/sister/best friend/side kick/confidante/comrade...... She has taught me so much and I love her. She won't be reading this anytime soon since she' about to head to Argentina! We have fun together and fight a lot and laugh until we cry.

Chloe, Andrea, Betsey, Bekah, Annie. When we were little we were always just called, the girls. We loved playing together at reunions and whenever we could be together. I have learned a lot from these girls and love them all so much.

Please ignore the blurry photo. These girls are my frooms. Froommates. We were friends and roommates. We had some great times. And some horrible times with our crazy roommates that we didn't really like and we may or may not have been slightly scared of them. We loved cupcakes and pixie sticks. We didn't love going to class. I mean, it was summer. Why would we go to class when we could go float the canal or go cliff jumping?

We begged the summer to stay and allow us to soak up a few more drops. We thanked the summer and rocked it out all weekend in the beautiful Moses Lake.

And then Kylie moved away. And then Courtney got married. Followed by me, Kylie and Kels. It happens. :)

Oh family. What is there to say. This is one of the more recent pictures of our whole family and includes all of us except for the newest edition, baby Sonora. We are a tight knit group and our best friends are each other. I feel really really lucky to have a family like them.

You're thinking...wait isn't this supposed to be a picture of you and your friends? Well if you look closely I am in the reflection. I think. :) These two girls are my sisters. And two of my best friends. I love them and I count myself as one of the lucky ones. Oh and my mom is on the left. She's pretty cool too.

I mean, there just really are no words.

See here. It's really not that clever or interesting. Just a name. :) I have been thinking about changing it though to a more married blog type of name. Since I am, you know, married. It's a little selfish of me to keep this blog all about me. But wait...isn't that what blogs are for?

Anyway...I have been wracking (racking? wracking.) my brain for good names for a blog about a girl who got married but still mostly writes about herself. Hmmmm. Might be a tough one. If you have a good suggestion, leave it in the comments.

Day One

1. My name is Betsey. It's short for Elisabeth. People rarely spell my name correctly and it's ok. What's not ok is when people act shocked/ try to argue with me when I tell them Betsey is in fact a nickname for Elisabeth. Deal with it.
2. I love having a unique name. I have only met two other Betsey's in my life, both of which were over seventy. I will give my children unique names. I think it builds character.
3. I genuinely love Harry Potter. I don't have a favorite year/book. I love them all equally. Whenever I read the books I always have really animated dreams. Part of me thinks there really is a secret magical world full of wizards and all of us muggles just aren't paying enough attention to notice.
4. I always fall asleep on road trips. My definition of a road trip is anything over 30 minutes.

5. My favorite food is spaghetti. No meatballs.

6. I could eat cereal three meals a day. Thanks Kelsey. :)

7. I grew up on a farm but don't know how to drive a stick shift.
8. In highschool I had really long hair. I have had really short/mohawk style hair for almost three years. I've forgotten what it's like to be able to put my hair in a (real) ponytail.
9. My favorite clothes are the ones I ~~stole~~ borrowed from my sister.
10. I paint my nails several times a week. Hot pink and dark purple are my favorites.
11. I love to cook. But I hate doing the dishes.
12. I have 2 sisters and 7 sisters in law who are all great ladies and good influences in my life. (Well I guess one of them isn't quite a grown up yet, but you know..) I'm lucky to live close to my best friend who also happens to be my sister. I would be pretty much friendless without her.
13. My favorite color is blue. Or pink. Or green. But my favorite color to wear is black.
14. I'm a huge softy and cry a lot. I cry in movies, during commercials, when I read sad things, when I read happy things....I cry too much. It's something I'm working on ok? :)
15. I found my other half much earlier in life than I was planning on but in retrospect it was perfect timing and I can't even remember not knowing him.

Lately I have been having dreams where I am pregnant. In the most recent one, I was having quintuplets. Please pray for me that this is not a sign of what is to come. Kidding. :) After waking up and realizing it's just a ~~nightmare~~ dream I can't help but think about the future. With motherhood on the horizon (however distant) I often find myself wondering what kind of mother I will be. Will I be able to teach my children what's important in life? Will they be rebellious, will they fight with each other, will they be soccer players, will they make good decisions, will they like me when they grow up? With all the uncertainty of what's to come I find myself hoping that they inherit some of their father's traits. Like being funny, charming, good at everything under the sun, determined, smart, happy, witty, confident...I could go on and on. If I could just have one small peek into what it will be like to have kids maybe it would be easier to know when is the right time. Or maybe it would make me never want to have them! But I doubt it. I mean seriously. Just look at them.

I'm tired and grumpy and still have to cook dinner. I got cranky with my husband and told him to give me some alone time. I just finished all my homework for the night and thought I would reward myself with a little blog time. And as I sit here I can hear Travis banging around the dryer trying to fix a belt? or something. And I'm so grateful that I have him. He's mine forever and I don't have to fix that awful noise that the dryer is making which is really good because let's be honest, I wouldn't have the slightest idea how. He's here and I don't have to do it all alone. Except for the grocery shopping. Sounds like a good trade to me. :)

Well since I haven't blogged in, oh almost two months, I thought I would get back on top of things. This summer has been a weird one. Trav was in school until the middle of July and I was working until the beginning of August. After that we headed up to Swan Valley and stayed most of the time with family while Trav worked with Joes on the farm. He loved every minute of it and I seriously loved getting to see Lulu every day. That kid could soften even the hardest of hearts I swear. So it feels like summer just started and now we are going back to school tomorrow! I have always been a summer girl and love everything that entails but this year I just did not get my fill of warm weather and tan lines and melty ice cream cones. Good thing we have family in arizona we can visit in a few months when the weather really starts chilling our bones.

In spite of being the summer lover that I am, I have always loved back to school time. It's seriously one of the best times of the year and I love the new clothes and sharp pencils that go along with it. It's just a really refreshing time of year and I always think of the new year starting in september and not january. Since we have not really been at our apartment much all summer I haven't been cooking. Like literally not cooking at all. I have been gathering recipes that I want to try and some of the old standbys that we love and I wrote up a dinner plan for the next month. I'm going to see if we can stick to this one and if it works out I want to do one every month. I obviously can't plan exactly what we will eat every night but I just put together five meals a week that we can cook whichever night we want. We have been eating out way too much lately and I have really wanted to kick that habit since it's not helping my thighs much.

Travis got a new job that he will be working part time this semester and we are both really excited about it! I'm excited because it means I get to be in school and he's excited because it's an engineering job and he is going to learn so much! Oh and the pay isn't bad either. :)

Oh and I decided to continue with my family picture/sibling posts because I only got to Ben. I thought this might be a good time since they have a new (tiny and adorable) addition to their family. More on that later.

Does anyone even read this? Ha.

The world would be a better place if my idiot neighbors didn't smoke right outside my window.

Well a while ago I sat down to write a post. As I'm right in the middle of the dang thing my computer gets a virus! I have to admit my computer is getting a little old. At least as far as PCs go and although she has been pretty good to me over the years I could tell the good behavior wasn't going to last much longer. I guess I haven't updated my spyware in a while but still! Hello! I need my computer. It's the only thing I have to keep me occupied on my day off while my darling husband is off at school all day! Ok. Enough ranting.

So lately we have been up to a lot of fun stuff. Which I would post pictures of but we are seriously the worst picture takers in the whole world. Not even exhaggerating. Well anyway.

We had a really fun weekend and did lots of stuff with both of our familys. Saturday we slept in and then went to Trav's little brother's baseball game. I didn't grow up watching or playing baseball and up until last year when I met Travis, I thought baseball games have half times. But after a year of being part of the Roe family, I can proudly say I watched the whole game and knew what was going on at least ninety percent of the time. Ha. After that we went to the family barbecue and did a super fun scavenger hunt. One of Trav's cousins thought the whole thing up and it was seriously so fun. After that we went to my brother's and had another barbecue. It was fun to see my little neices. Man they grow up so fast!
Then of course we went to the fireworks with the Roes. Personally I would much rather light them myself in my own backyard but it was pretty fun. Until we went to leave and it took us almost two hours to get home because of the traffic! It should take us ten minutes. It was crazy. If we go next year we are for sure riding bikes.
Yesterday we went up to Swan Valley to enjoy the fireworks there and well...lets just say...they are doing the best they can. It was fun though. And it only took us ten minutes to get home. And then we found a very large amount of fireworks leftover from old family reunions. We stayed up so so late lighting the majority of them. It was really fun and the little girls had a blast with the forty seven boxes of sparklers. Pretty sure my hands will be permanently scorched from lighting to many at once!

Well that pretty much sums it up! Now that my computer is fixed and I have access to the internet I will be posting a little more often! :)

Hi people. So today I:

finished four paintings for my bedroom.
did about a million loads of laundry. (why does our washing machine have to take fourty seven hours to do one load?)
cleaned the egg shells out of our non working garbage disposal. still non working.
took out the trash and all the rotten food in the refrigerator.
washed all the dishes! now we have glasses! yay!
wrote a blog post. oh wait...
finished the dark knight which i started last night and promptly fell asleep to in the first five minutes.
slept in!
ummm...i think that's all.

Oh yeah and I have a mohawk. Like a really cool one. Yeah. Be jealous.

Travis played in a soccer tournament last weekend in boise. We stayed with my best friend from high school who I have not seen in like three years. It was so fun! And I read the new twilight book. The short one about Bree Tanner. It was so good! I want to read twilight again. Ha. And we watched shutter island! It was super freaky. That's it. Sorry that you are now down a few brain cells for having read this whole post!

Ok that's a lie.

The truth is that I met another Betsey today. This brings my running total up to 2.
The first one I ever met was 79. And she was skiing at targhee. Awesome. :)

I just feel like its something that should be documented. I mean sure. I have heard of plenty of Betseys. Everyone seems to have a cousin or an aunt or a great grandmother named Betsey. And then there's that famous one that sewed the american flag or something. No big deal. But I just think it's something special to meet these people.

There is this show on MTV that Travis and I love to watch. Actually he loves to watch it and I love to listen to it while I read other peoples blogs.

Anyway. It's about making a "bucket list" and actually doing those things on your list. And it's cool and since I'm kind of a follower..................I'm making a list.

I might even get lucky and Trav will help me add to it. But I doubt it. :)

I want to blog. I have a lot of thoughts that bounce around in my head and sometimes I start writing them but then I delete them. I start writing them and then I think....

"Why would anyone ever want to read this? Will people feel dumber for having stopped by my blog today?"

So then I delete them and go back to whatever I was doing before.

SO I think to keep myself motivated to keep typing. Typing and typing and typing. I will do some kind of weekly post with some kind of theme. Like 10 thing i love sunday or 2 things i love around my home or totally awkward tuesdays. This is also to keep my posts from being like this one. (Which I know is a little boring....Sorry.)

I will think about a really fun one I would like to do and it will probably have somehting to do with my husband. Who by the way I am madly in love with.

I can't seem to figure out why but bloggy is cutting my pictures in half. (almost)

It doesn't do this when I upload from my camera but it does when I upload from the net.

If you look at my last few posts the right side of the picture is cropped off a bit.

I'm going to marry this boy in twenty-nine days.

I met Travis John Roe while I was working at Grand Targhee. I was a liftee trying to survive a cold winter and he was a ski bum going to school in Rexburg but coming to Targ way more than his parents knew or approved of. :) He came with a big group of slightly obnoxious but nice friends in baggy snowpants and brightly colored hats. They were always pestering me because I was the only girl liftee (besides Carol...grey hair, dentures, leathery skin...not to much of a comparison. just saying.) and Travis in particular was always trying to get me to put my skis on and go for a run with them. Obviously I was always working so I never did. But he was persistent. :) As a side note: One thing that made him stand out from the crowd was the fact that he was always wearing tie dye. So the season was drawing to a close and I was getting ready to start school again. One day I heard one of Trav's friends yell his last name in my lift line (I already knew his first name) so naturally I facebook stalked him and added him as a friend. He makes fun of me for this now but if I hadn't done it we might never have gone on a date! So we started talking on facebook and he immediately asked for my number and then we started texting. And we went on our first date pretty soon after that. I only had a week left of work and he was going to be done with school that same week but somehow we managed to find time to go out. It was a tuesday. It was actually his birthday. :) Then we went skiing together twice that same week and by friday I was already smitten. I told my brothers like that next week that I thought I was going to marry this guy. They thought I was crazy but I knew there was something special about him. He was one to hold on to. So pretty much after that we saw eachother every day...until I went to Lake Mead with my sister and didn't have cell service for the whole weekend. But when I came back he was still just as interested as before. :) I knew it was just a matter of time. And then one day...about two months later he bought a ring. We got engaged on June 27th and it was the first day I realized I was actually going to spend the rest of my life with him. Then I started getting really nervous. But excited. But nervous. It's a weird feeling. But kind of the best feeling I have ever had. I feel like he was hand made just for me. He just gets me. He gets my humor and he thinks I am funny. He knows how to cheer me up when I am having a bad day and he knows how to handle it when I am super hyper. He is just perfect. It's cheesy and slightly generic but he's the one. I can't wait to marry him and know every day that I found the exact person I was meant to be with.

Someone said this to me the other day...I was telling them about Travis and how it's really soon but it doesn't matter. And he said...maybe you loved him before you came to earth and you should be happy that you found him. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones.

And I really am. I'm one of the lucky ones. :)

Remember when I used to blog? Yeah that was cool.

So I have like six blog posts started....but not posted. I'm working on it ok.

This is Andy.
This is when he got home from his mission. He is such a good example to me. He wrote us faithfully every week. I think I kind of grew up while he was gone. When he came home I think he didn't know who I was. But then we lived next door to each other for a semester of college and I'm pretty sure the only meals he ever ate were when he was at my house. :)

He's a tough cowboy and he knows how to work hard. He knows how to fix stuff when it breaks. The other night I came home to swan valley and when I was walking in from the car I almost got eaten by a raccoon. It was scary. And then he went and shot it. He knows how to take care of the people he loves.

And this is the girl he is going to marry in two days. They are so in love. More than anyone I know. I love them. Really he is older than me but I have always kind of felt like he was my little brother. And now he's getting married.

No. I'm not crying. Ok maybe a little.

So I got to spend a whole weekend with my sister in one of the coolest places I have ever been.
Lake Mead. It was so cool. We spent the whole day on the lake learning to wake surf. SOOO fun. We all got a little bit of sun and loved every minute of it. Courtney (far right) and I went exploring. There are all these mussels in the lake. It's so weird. They all attach to the rock walls just under the surface of the water. They are kind of freaky. So when I say we went exploring I mean I went exploring and she floated me around on the tube. LeeAnn came all the way from AZ and we were so happy to see her. The weekend consisted of marshmallow roasting, Cory singing I Believe In a Thing Called Love for us around the campfire, tan lines, new swimming suits, Self and Glamour, running out of gas and getting a flat tire, walking through smoky casinos, and smelling like campfire smoke the whole time. It was a blast. However I did miss a certain boy while I had no cell service. :)

Sleep. Who needs it?

So here it is. Two o clock in the a.m. and I am sitting on my computer unable to sleep. There are a few good reasons why I'm finding it hard to let my brain shut off for a few hours tonight...but we'll get to that later.

Things I want to talk about......

My job was completely crazy and sucked my social life away for the last few months...but I loved it. :) A few things I learned while braving the treacherous weather to make other people happy.....1. There is a huge difference between a hippie and a dirty hippie. 2. Weed smells like a skunk. 3. Sunblock is your friend unless you like the thought of skin cancer. 4. Some people actually DO get to ski for a living. 5. I can basically predict when a storm is coming for days in advance. It's just a feeling you get. 6. It's actually ok to be environmentally friendly and recycle. No one will make fun of you. 7. Sometimes those annoying boys that flirt with me while I was punching their tickets turn out to be awesome guys. :) Just watch out for the ones wearing tie dye.
When you get locked out of your house...the doggie door actually does come in handy. Just don't tell anyone you had to crawl through it. And lock it at night so creepy stalker people or skunks can't get in too.
You know you have been away too long when the thought of jumping back into the rexburg bubble actually sounds appealing.
I am setting a few really good goals this semester...I'll post on them later I am sure.
So I was logging on to my computer the other day and checking out a few blogs I read pretty regularly and I was pretty disappointed to find that there were no new posts. But then I realized I am a total hipocrite and I never ever post anymore. So I'm going to do better guys. I promise. My life is less repetitive and slightly less interesting now so I will have much more time to write about it, but it won't be as exciting. So sorry. :)
Something one of my teachers said this week in class that I kind of loved....."If you have enough time to plaigarize well enough to not get caught, you have enough time to write the dang paper yourself."
And now the most important.....well actually I think I am going to keep this a secret for a few more posts. It's a big deal but not big enough to start a new blog or something.....details coming soon. Promise.

I'm really happy and I am loving life. So I'll be sharing soon. :) For now the sleep is creeping into my eyes and I am not going to fight it. More tomorrow.

So I have decided to do a little project something like the self portrait project...only backwards. I am going to delve into my archives of family photos...the ones that I have taken anyway and share with all (three) of you the reasons that I love my family so much. I am going to start with the youngest sibling and work my way to the oldest. (I think they are like middle aged at this point?) This is more for me than anything but whatever. Here goes nothing.

Before I start the real post...

So I recently got text messaging and I am still having a really hard time figuring out how to type. For example, just now I was texting this cute boy that I work with. I was trying to write don't...and my predictive text thought I wanted to write foot. That is just not a word you want to accidentally send to a cute boy.

I just moved to a new town a few weeks ago and I have spent a lot of hours alone since then which has made me really pay attention to the small details. I have a roommate, but she has a boyfriend which means that she is rarely here for more than ten minutes at a time. I'm not actually home that much either (working six days a week has it's disadvantages) so mostly just at nights. But here are a few things that my world is revolving around right now.

Calvin. My roommates cat. Scratch that. My roommates mountain lion. Sometimes he's my friend and I like him. (This is usually when he's sleeping.) Sometimes I just want to drown him in the fish tank. But then I would just have to clean up the mess because my roommate wouldn't see it for a week. He likes to sit on one of our dining room chairs and watch the fish. He seriously can sit there for hours.

My purple fuzzy lamp. It's seriously my favorite belonging. Well it's at least tying with my ipod.

Sorry so blurry..but what can ya do? My new purple coat. Why yes actually, purple is my new favorite color thanks for asking.

These blue earrings. I seriously wear them every day to work and everyday ten million people tell me they love my earrings. My secret is that my little sis gave them to me. She obviously has better fashion sense than I do. :)

I donated blood the other day. For the second time ever. It was awesome. And this is my sweet old green chair.

So these girls are my roommates. And this post is mostly for them, although I think it applies to other subjects as well. I guess you could say I am feeling just a little sad today. So this is for them.

First, I met both of them at the beginning of my second semester at school. I met Kelsey (on the right) first. She was right across the hall and the first time I talked to her she was putting up a bulletin board full of pictures of all her friends. My first impression of her was that she knows how to be a good friend. And it turns out I was right. She is loyal and caring. She is smart and shares good advice. I honestly can not get dressed in the morning without her fashion advice. Something I have learned from her is how to be more assertive. She is a go-getter but in a good way. She knows how to read people and sometimes I think she knows me better than I do.

Courtney's story is a little different. The first time I met her I had just gotten home from dance and she was coming over to look at our apartment because she was thinking about moving into our empty bedroom. She thought I was a dork because she comes in and I am totally still wearing my purple leotard and pink tights. I'm really glad she still decided to move in after that. She is the kind of friend that everyone needs to have. Her perspective on life is so different from mine and it reminds me of the things that are important in life. She is happy and carefree. She is the kind of friend who backs you up no matter what. Also she lets me borrow her shoes. :) In the last two semesters she has taught me that it's ok to be yourself no matter what.

Our personalities are slightly different from each other but we all love One Tree Hill and sushi and don't love the "spritzer girls". Sometimes we disagree, but we will be best friends for a long time to come and down the road when we all have husbands and babies we will get together and reminisce on the good old days back in college.

For example:
Staying up until the sun came up writing papers and doing homework and throwing vegetables across the parking lot at the tuscany girls.
Driving to Moses Lake and getting to play in the water all day like it was summer. Only it wasn't.
Going cliff jumping or floating the canal or whatever we could do to avoid class in the summer.
Watching all four seasons of One Tree Hill and obsessing over Prison Break.
The Office.
Crying and laughing together.
The Cocoa Bean and Wingers and the oriental chicken.
Making banana cookies and bread and cake until like two a.m.
Boys, boys and more boys.
Thinking that getting a cat was a smart idea.
Laughing and rolling our eyes every time anyone said anything about my crazy hair.
Getting so used to each others ring tones that when someone elses phone rang, it felt like it was yours.

I'm going to miss you guys. April isn't too far away I guess.

Best/Worst

So today I conquered two of my greatest fears.

Backup..I need to provide a little background info here for you to understand the extent of my accomplishments. I would like to think that I am very rarely unnerved (although I did have a little bit of a meltdown when I had to experience "The Brain Bucket") however, I have two major drawbacks. Drum roll please....

1. I am gutless when it comes to heights. I hate them. I know my place in this world and it is very near to the ground.

2. Needles. Being. Poked. Into. My. Arm.

Which leads me back to why I started writing this in the first place...today I got in a fight with that strange part of my brain that tells me to tremble in the face of fear, and guess what?

I won.

I am starting work very soon at a much-beloved ski resort in the beautiful rocky mountains. And today I had to go to orientation which was slightly boring and repetitive until the ski patrol needed the rest of us to be their guinea pigs for the afternoon. So here's the story. They were have a trial run of emergency evacuation from the ski lift so they lined us up and sent us all up the hill like it was normal. So there we were..dangling much to far from the icy snow for my liking, freezing our noses off in the biting wind, watching the patrolmen as they go down the line, lowering the other employees in front of us to the ground. And then it was our turn and at this point I am shakin' in my boots. Literally. Let me explain what was actually happening. They threw a little rope over the lift line and at on end is a bar with a piece of wood hooked to the bottom which you are supposed to wiggle in between your legs so that you are sitting on it. And then wrap this measly little rope under your arms. So this is all fine and so far I am doing ok..just breathe..it's not that far down I had to remind myself..it's completely safe. Yeah right. Except for the fact that the only thing keeping you from plummeting toward the ground as soon as you jump is the guy sitting on the rope on the ground. Real safe guys.

And then I have to lift myself out of the chair. Possibly falling to my death.

At which point I turned into a total basket case. SO embarrassing. Everyone was already on the ground at this point. Literally my chair was the last one. And I froze. I couldn't do it. And poor Mason who was left up there with me. I'm sure he would have liked nothing more than to push me out of the chair and get out of there himself. But he was so calm and nice and got me to start breathing at least. Ugh. And my boss was at the bottom and half a dozen other important people that work at the resort.

And I had to be the girl who freaked out on the lift. But the point is..I did it. I finally worked up the courage to push myself off the lift. I composed myself and took a leap of faith and lived to tell about it. The worst part is..everyone else lived to tell about it too. And they will be telling about it for the rest of the season. So now instead of being the spunky, smiley, slightly-out-of-control liftee girl, I am going to be known as the girl who flipped out on the emergency e-vac drill. Spectacular.

But that isn't even the end of my day. The next part is much shorter and much less interesting but still a huge thing for me. I donated blood. I sat there while this half-cute(another story entirely) little flobotomist jabbed a huge needle into my "awesome vein". That's what she told me..that I have awesome veins. Not sure how to feel about that. I think it might be slightly amazing. But maybe I just let it go to my head. And I didn't even get nauseous or light-headed or faint-hearted. It was fantastic. And then they gave me juice.

It was one of the best/worst days of my life. I am a superhero.

The Brain Bucket

So today is my anatomy lab which I usually love...but today was a little different. We started muscles last week (really really cool) and all week I have known that today I would have to go into the cadaver lab. I wasn't really worried about it because it takes a lot to make me sick. Also it is a huge privilege to have a cadaver on campus and be able to study it at such a lower level class...we count ourselves lucky. So we finish our quiz and Brother Frederickson (who only graduated a few months ago and is headed to med school next fall) tells us all to "glove up". And suddenly my throat feels like I shoved a football down it. I was so nervous!! He starts showing us the leg muscles and I was ok at this point because the head was covered and the muscles are SO interesting! So we go through all the muscles in the lower extremities..still doing fine if I breathe through my mouth...and then someone wants to see the heart and lungs. That was really cool too and the head was still covered I just had to think..it's not a human..it's not a human..and I was fine.

And then it happened. The know-it-all-have-to-be-the-top-of-the-class-or-I-have-failed asks to see a brain. So Bro Fred, or Logan as we all like to refer to him, walks over to the cabinet and pulls out "The Brain Bucket" which is exactly what you think it is. Suddenly my airway is totally constricted..the smell coming from this bucket could knock you out from a mile away..and I somehow got pushed to the front of the class. I am a mere two feet away from the bucket. I didn't want to be the wimpy kid who has to run out of the class because she can't stomach the cadavers..but I also didn't want to be the kid who pukes all over the teacher. So I just tried really hard to not breath and focus on what he was teaching us.

And then he pulls out a brain. With the eyeballs still attached. And that's when I lost the ability to stand. The T.A. basically had to carry me out into the hall. I had to get outside to some fresh air and luckily I didn't lose my breakfast all over the bad carpet.

So I guess you could say it's been a rough day.

Ok so I totally do NOT get how to run this thing yet..so please bear (bare?) with me. The post that I was trying to write earlier was meant to poke fun at all the mindless students walking around campus with their blackberry pearls glued to their ears or nano headphones blowing out their eardrums. But now I have moved on to something else to talk about. Shock I know but oh well!

As I am sure all of you know...if not..wow...but today is a big day for America.
The election. I have chosen not to vote today because personally I already know who is going to be the president and I don't feel like my vote is going to count at this point. All I know is...whoever is our next president has obviously convinced approximately half of the country to vote for him and that should be good enough. We have to support whoever is chosen or we are just not being good Americans. So lets just be nice and say good job. Welcome to the White House. That's all. I have to go study for a dang test.

Also...I got a haircut today. And my hairdresser is pregnant. So now I have to schedule my appointments around her morning/sometimes not morning sickness. Yikes...but SO exciting for her!

So I just got home from my English Lit class...(slightly interesting today and Bro. Ward only cried once) and my creative energy is bouncing off the walls so here I sit. Pouring my guts out to all of you who are reading this. Which is probably only my mom. Hi mom...don't worry I didn't tell anyone else that you love me the most of all your children. Your secret's safe with me! Except I guess now it's not..sorry! Anyway I think the first post is supposed to be the one where I tell all of you why I am blogging. So here it is.

I blog because...

1. Everyone is doing it!! Haha...ok that's not a real reason. But really. I don't like to feel that I am missing out on anything! And the blogging community is like the cool kids in high school that everyone knows and all you wish for every day is to be able to sit with them at lunch. Only this time around...you can just make your own 'cool kid table' (a.k.a. blog) and write crazy stuff to the world!

2. I pretty much totally love myself and I just want everyone to know it! (Slightly kidding..but only slightly)((also FYI..I say 'slightly' a ton..if it bugs you I'm really sorry..but I will probably say it anyway)) And I laugh a LOT and see the humor in just about everything.

3.College is basically one short, fun filled, exciting chapter in this book we call life, and I want to share the best (and sometimes worst) of it with all of you! When I say 'all of you' I mean whoever is reading this, which again, is probably just my madre. Hopefully I can teach you something you wouldn't have learned otherwise, but mostly I think I am the one who is going to benefit from this.

4. I am a huge journal writer..and this is really just the next step. Anyone still using an actual journal and pen (yikes) is way behind. Totally just kidding because I still write in mine!

5. I think it's very important to be proactive and I think blogging is a tiny step in the right direction! I know I am not going to change the world or anything..but I would hope that someone reads my blog and learns something they never knew before or gains some inspiration to go out and change the world. Like I said..baby steps. :) This might sound crazy..but that's my middle name. Actually it's Noelle which is way cooler, but you get the point.

6. Speaking of names you may be wondering about my "blog name". Or maybe not..but I am going to tell you anyway. Newsy Nibby. Well it's a long story that starts with me having this childhood nickname and ends in me using it now. So I guess it wasn't a long story. But to clarify...my nickname wasn't Newsy Nibby. It was just Nibby, Nibs, Niblet..and if you haven't figured out why I added the newsy part...You might want to put on a helmet.

Wow....this has really digressed. What was I saying? Reasons why I blog...ok. Last one.

7. I have started getting really creative in my old age (hehe) and I need some form of creative outlet otherwise I am going to start graffiti-ing my terrible white apartment walls or dying my hair crazy colors. Oh wait...too late. Haha..the point is I pull inspiration from everything around me, from the little old lady with the awesome flowers who lives across the street from my apartment complex to the waves of students walking to class equipped with their i pods and ugg boots to fellow bloggers like cjane or TAMN. Woah...I just said fellow bloggers. That makes me feel awesome.

Well that's it. My reasons all laid out. But of course there are a million more reasons to blog!! I guess this is the beginning of the next chapter of my life. Keep reading. It can only get better from here...and I promise to not have any more posts this long! Until next time....
